Step 1

Watch the following video in order to learn more about the basics of classical education. Does it resonate with you? Does it sound like something you’d like to participate in?

Step 2

Scholé Hall would provide classes taught by adults who affirm the Nicene Creed.

This is to provide clarity, not to be exclusionary or sectarian. Clearly stating the worldview from which we teach help families know what to expect and provides freedom for the teacher to fully engage in his or her subject.

This does not imply that all teachers hold the same theological convictions or that families are required to hold the same. But whether or not we acknowledge it, we all hold beliefs and convictions—and therefore we all teach our children from a particular worldview.

Clarity is kindness here.

Are you comfortable knowing that Scholé Hall classes, while probably not explicitly faith-focused in topic, are taught by adults who affirm this ancient universal church creed?

The Nicene Creed:

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation, he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Step 3

A Scholé Hall family would commit to an ethos and habit of lifelong learning, both during classes and after. In other words, parents model a teachable posture in life as an example for their children.

Would you be willing to commit to the following?

  1. Contribute to the flourishing and functioning of the Scholé Co-Op in some capacity (even in a small way).

  2. Participate in a Scholé parents’ book club around twice a year.

  3. Take the Classical Education & Habits of the Household online course (it’s free).

  4. Read at least one of these books before or while your student takes a Scholé Hall class:
